It’s already been a few months that this trend has spread so you’ve surely seen it on the streets. However seeing it one thing. Pulling it off is another. If you’ve been hesitating on how to wear pink (we assume you are a male reading, most females will have no problem pulling off pink), then you’ve come to the right place.
We all know how trends go. Something becomes popular, everybody starts wearing it. Then the ones who wore it first feel jaded and want to find the next big style niche to exploit, in order to differentiate themselves from the “masses”. This is exactly what happens with the “pink” trend, because just before that, what was everyone wearing? Black. Black caps, black hoodies, black jeans, and (often) black sneakers. Now when everyone is wearing black, what are you going to wear to try and stand out? See where we’re going with this?
Men in Pink is not really a ground-breaking concept, but it is one which has become more clearly visible and which is leading the styles since about mid 2016. But it’s a thin line between looking like someone out of a Chris Brown video, and flopping the style completely. Worry not though, this is where our tips will come in handy.
It’s a summer thing
So this is pretty obvious but let’s start off here. Wearing pink for men is a summer thing. Don’t start wearing pink scarves and jackets in the middle of winter, that is a period during which the fashion codes dictate that black, brown, grey are the protocol. If you want to flame it up a bit, go for bright red. Not pink. Not in winter.
2. Keep it simple
Let’s get this straight from the beginning. No matter how natural you are, no matter how great you can pull it off, no matter whatever, pink remains original, and attention-grabbing. Use that wisely by not adding into your outfit other elements which are going to be very original and attention-grabbing such as big prints, patterns, or too much accessories. Let the pink do the job. Combine a pink sweater for men with a pair of casual slim jeans, washed out blue or black is good. And some clean white or black sneakers. Brown, camel, grey can all pass but avoid adding any other bright colors in your outfit for maximum impact and harmony.
3. Balance the outfit
Pink is a feminine color. We said it. That doesn’t mean that it can’t be worn in a very masculine way though. On the contrary, the key to pulling off the pink look is to balance the outfit out. Yes, pink is a girly color, so make sure the rest of your outfit is on the opposite side of that scale. If you’re drooling over a pink sweater for men, then think Timberland boots, Air Force 1s or other chunky sneakers to wear with it. Add in a dope chain or a grizzly man bracelet made of something raw to counter the feminine feeling of the pink, and I guarantee you that you will hit the streets looking fresh as f**k and ready for business.
So there you have it, a few style tips to guide you, although the most important thing to remember is to always be comfortable in what you wear. If you’re trying to force a look, it is so obvious and looks terrible, everyone can see it from a mile away. So consider the pink trend for this season, ask yourself if you have what it takes to pull it off and mainly, keep smiling, keep looking dope and keep checking out our latest arrivals fresh of the plate!
